GARNER Ms. Garner attended Louisiana Polytechnic University, Southern Methodist University, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Her investment experience began in 1967 and includes the management of both taxable and tax exempt fixed income portfolios, equity securities, and tax-free municipal bonds. In the trust investment department at Republic National Bank of Dallas she was responsible for conducting economic research. As a trust officer with Houston National Bank her duties included equity trading and institutional and individual investor portfolio management. Prior to joining Llama Asset Management Company, L.P. in 1994, (the predecessor to Garner Asset Management Company, LLC) she managed all fixed income assets of Monarch Capital Corporation, a Fortune 500 insurance holding company with assets totaling approximately $1 billion and from 1991 to 1994 was the president of her own investment management firm. As a mutual fund portfolio manager with Monarch Capital Corporation, she has spoken to thousands of individual investors on the topics of portfolio management and asset allocation. Ms. Garner has also appeared in the radio and television media on topics related to individual investors. Ms. Garner has written articles for leading financial publications including The American Association of Individual Investors Journal and has appeared as a guest lecturer at the Harvard Business School. In 1997, 1998, and 1999 Ms. Garner was named one of "The Top 100 Women in Arkansas" by Arkansas Business magazine. She was also the recipient of the 2000 Athena Award, presented by the Arkansas Women's Forum. GLENN E. ATKINS, CFAExecutive Vice President & Director of Research Mr. Atkins received a BSBA in Financial Management from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. While attending the University of Arkansas, Mr. Atkins was selected as Portfolio Manager for the Raymond Rebsamen Trust Fund, an equity portfolio managed and administered by a select number of students from what is now known as the Sam M. Walton College of Business. He has managed personal and family equity portfolios since 1981 and has an extensive background in residential real estate leasing and development. In 1987 he began specializing in fixed-income research and management for Monarch Capital Corporation, a Fortune 500 insurance holding company with assets totaling approximately $1 billion and joined Llama Asset Management Company, L.P. (the predecessor to Garner Asset Management Company, LLC) in 1994. Mr. Atkins has authored articles for leading financial publications including The American Association of Individual Investors Journal and was a contributing author for a book on bankruptcy investing, which was recognized by Forbes magazine as one of "...the best from the class of '92." He has also appeared as a guest lecturer at the Harvard Business School and is currently working toward his CPA. In 1998 Mr. Atkins was named to the "40 Under 40" list of up-and-coming business leaders by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal. He has worked with Ms. Garner in a research capacity since 1987. KERRY LEE WATKINS, CFA, MBA Ms. Watkins received a BSBA in Financial Management (cum laude) from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. She also holds an MBA from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. While attending the University of Arkansas, Ms. Watkins was selected as International Economist (Pacific Rim) for the Raymond Rebsamen Trust Fund, an equity portfolio managed and administered by a select number of students. Her investment experience began in 1992 and includes equity and fixed income portfolio management, investment analysis and economic research. Prior to joining Garner Asset Management in 1999 she was a portfolio manager/research analyst for a registered investment advisory firm in Fayetteville, AR, providing portfolio management services for individual investors. Her responsibilities included articulating and implementing portfolio and asset allocation strategy and employing fundamental and technical analysis for security selection. Other experience included being part of a five-person equity team with responsibility for eight industries for an investment management firm with $3.5 billion in assets under management. She has also participated in Leadership Fayetteville 2001. CARLA MURUAGAPortfolio Accountant Ms. Muruaga received an associate degree in sales and accounting from the Fayetteville Business College and attended the University of Arkansas where she studied administrative management. She has an extensive portfolio accounting background with responsibilities including custodial reconciliation, trade settlement, performance reporting, and portfolio manager support. Additionally, her experience includes cost accounting, accounts receivable, and asset-account reconciliation for a division of one of the world’s largest agriculture firms, and payroll, accounting, and inventory control for a small retail firm. Ms. Muruaga is responsible for all portfolio and internal accounting at Garner Asset Management.
